WHAT IS THE WORK OF WOMEN?
The work that women do is at the very heart of our global community – women care for families, impart wisdom, teach ethical values, provide financial support, produce most of the world’s food and work two-thirds of the world’s working hours. Yet women earn just one-tenth of the world’s income and own less than one-tenth of the world’s property. Women suffer disproportionately from violence, and are marginalized from leadership and decision making. The Work of Women (WOW!) program at World Neighbors is dedicated to changing this.
WOW! mobilizes women in support of a better life for their counterparts in isolated villages throughout the world. Through education, advocacy and fundraising, WOW! members enhance the work of World Neighbors to end poverty, hunger and disease.
Through involvement with WOW!, you will touch women's lives in a multitude of ways. You facilitate the creation of women's savings and credit groups that start micro-businesses and support community service provision. You contribute to women's leadership and skill building for equity in community decision making. You support women to better feed their families through more availability of nutritious foods and improved household preparation. You catalyze improved health via community volunteers who go home to home to share information and basic services. And so much more.

WOW! Networks
World Neighbors encourages the growth and formation of WOW! Networks across the United States. WOW! Networks offer an education forum where issues affecting women globally are addressed. Networks promote WOW! in the community through the organization of talks and presentations to a variety of audiences. WOW! House Parties
Help celebrate the collective strength of women by hosting a WOW! House Party. These events, usually during March—the month of International Women's Day—increase awareness about issues that women in developing countries face, increase the membership base for WOW! and raise funds for the work that WOW! supports.
