CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT
WOW! @ World Neighbors actively seeks to be engaged on campuses throughout the U.S. and involve students in our work. WOW! interns from several universities have supported our work over the past year in areas including research on issues, communications, advocacy, member surveys and outreach to sororities and campus women's organizations.
Some examples include:
- WOW! was an exhibitor at the National Women’s Studies Association conference outside of Chicago, Illinois, in summer 2007.
We have partnered with various campus organizations and departments around our headquarters in Oklahoma. Our involvement has included a presence at the University of Oklahoma's Vagina Monologues and International Women’s Day celebrations, and University of Central Oklahoma's International Passport Program.
- Princeton University hosted the Work of Women photo exhibit and held a panel discussion entitled "The Work of Women in Developing Countries," with World Neighbors trustee and WOW! member Jeanne Haws moderating and Natalie Elwell, World Neighbors associate vice-president for action learning communications & gender, as one of the discussion participants.
We are currently involved in organizing for November 16, when the international 16 Days Against Violence Against Women campaign kicks off.
